He has been a federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team Leader, conference presenter and has received specialized training in Law Enforcement firearms and tactics, Advanced Disaster Medical Response, Victim Assistance and Tactical Medicine. He is currently a resident of Earthquake Country.

This is not only a great book for anyone who is interested in earthquakes and disasters, it is a MUST-buy and MUST-read book for anyone who lives in earthquake country. It breaks down the latest scientific research on a likely earthquake scenario (a 7.8 magnitude on the Southern San Andreas Fault) into easy to read laymen's terms. Based on this research and the author's personal and professional experience responding to mega-disasters, he paints a picture of what life may be like after the Big One really does hit... and it's not pretty. Weeks without water and power and weeks without any kind of government assistance await us.However, the point of the book isn't to scare you (although it probably will), it is to provide a truly practical and detailed guide on how to prepare for and react to the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake and this is where it truly shines. It describes everything from how much food and water you really should have (3 days is not nearly enough) to the various gadgets and tools that will not only make your life a lot more comfortable, but may actually save your life in the process. I mean it gets down to the nitty-gritty of what kind of ax to buy, the best types and brands of generators to get to the various methods of home security and defense. It even covers disaster psychology and discusses how you and others will behave after disaster strikes.
I can't recommend this book enough. If you are reading this review right now and you live anywhere close to a major earthquake fault, get this book. Even if you don't live in earthquake country, get it anyway as it is a great general disaster preparedness and survival manual. You won't regret it and your life may literally depend on it.
